SLANT vs SWAG

Help!  I have tried using SLANT before...but kids hate it,they don't buy into it and I never follow through.  However I like the idea of it.

So On Pinterest I found this gem: (just the Show your Swag part)

I instantly loved it.  I really think the kids will buy into it.  My only problem is I'm not crazy about the G: Give Snaps/Claps.
So I was wondering if I could get some good suggestions on the G line!?  The only thing I can come up with and actually like is Give respect to all.

  1. Perhaps you could change the G line to "Give Props" which is more keeping in line with the "Show your Swag" title?

I know that props and swag aren't necessarily vocabulary words all parents will agree with, but if it works in the classroom and gets students on board, I say go for it!

    1. I thought about Give Props too! That might work, going back and forth with that and respect now. :)

    2. props was also my first thought as it's 'on theme' ... give feedback would also work?

  2. Just started following your blog! I have used SLANT but my high schoolers don't buy into that at all. SWAG might work :) we'll see!

By the way, I have nominated you for a LIebster Award. The award is a way to recognize bloggers, offer encouragement, and possibly get more readers. Check out my blog post at http://algebrasfriend.blogspot.com/2013/07/a-fun-surprise-today.html.

Play along if you want to! I appreciate your work online!

    1. Wow thanks Beth!! I am going to check out your blog and this award too! Awesome!

Also I ran my SWAG idea by the student I am tutoring this summer (7th grader), he liked it! He also thought Give respect to all would be the best one to go with.
